Back in another bathroom for by Dan Edwards Back in another bathroom for the last 5 working days. It's always the same, lots of hidden issues. This one was all the steel studwork was rusty, due to water ingress over the last few years. So here, I took out the bath, all the walls, cut out all the rusty steel and installed 6 new studs, built the wall with wedi boards, put copper in for a shower. Waterproofed the the wall, installed a new bath, tilled the walls, installed the shower, put the shower screen back in, tiles the window sill and done. Another happy customer. Continue reading... Good discussion for a Monday. It’s clear to see the tiling industry is at its worst it’s been for a long long time.. Maybe ever for some of us. Retail is terrible and unfortunately we’re going to see a fair few tile retailers go this year. Last year we saw some go. Plastic panels and Lvt have been trending a while now and really hitting the tile market. That does eventually have a knock on effect on tile fixers as the market becomes more competitive fighting for jobs. I’m going to create a post we can share with the retail sector to try and promote the use of tiles over alternatives. How do you guys go about preparing this for tiling? Do you just patch the holes and then prime and go for it? If so, what do you normally use to patch holes? Or do you prefer to go for a full skim? Or ive even thought about overboarding with 6mm waterproof board!! But thats a lot more time and money! And my only thoughts with fully skimming it is drying times causing delays!
